My Favorite Poem

Beautiful//

This is one of my favorite poems because it is relatable to so many people that live in this world. It is important to remember all the things we ARE instead what we are NOT. We should stop living our lives to please others and just live as the best YOU you can be regardless of what other people think. Your self esteem does not come from those around you, it comes from what lies within you and the image you have of yourself.

My Novel

For the month of March my goal was to write a 50,000 word novel. That didn't quite happen, but I've still got a novel in the making. This was definitely a challenge for me to write and I am proud of what I was able to accomplish even though it wasn't my original goal. My manuscript is off to a shaky start but with time I should have everything figured out.
I wasn't sure how to write this book and I had no particular writing process. I just sat down and did it. That is always the hardest part.

Here is a little excerpt:

I was suffocating. I wasn’t breathing. And I was dying.
I could feel it. I could feel everything, until I felt nothing at all.
    ---
“She’s suffered from a broken spine, and we aren’t sure when exactly she’ll wake up. Hopefully, within the next few days, but there is no certainty with these kind of things.”
“She’s only a child, how did this happen?” A sob escaped an older woman’s chest.
“We found her at the bottom of a cliff with no sign of a struggle. Police are investigating the scene as we speak, however the evidence suggests that…  that she did this to herself.”
“We do not have a suicidal daughter, doctor!” The woman rages, her teeth clenched together.
“I’m not suggesting anything. However, I would like for your daughter to have a full recovery and that recovery includes rest. We can talk about this more in the morning.” The doctor replies cooly. He then leaves the room with a silent close of the door.
The woman comes toward my broken body and places her hands on my forehead. “You have to wake up.”
---
***His arms wrap around me. “Don’t.”
“I just want to be with you.” I mumble into his shoulder.
His head rests on mine and I cling tighter to his body, never wanting to let go. “You can’t.”
A tear leaks down my face. “Where are you? Where did you go?” I am gently pushed away from his embrace.
“Don’t come looking for me. You won’t find me. And don’t do anything stupid. I won’t be here to save you this time.”  He whispers, but his voice isn’t full of pain like mine is.
    “I lov-”
“Don’t say it. Don’t you DARE say it.” He responds gruffly pulling me back towards his chest.  He holds me there for a few minutes then places a chaste kiss on my forehead. “Goodbye Haleigh.” Then he is gone.***

Forever Glass

I saw her sleeping.  I knew I should do something. I wanted to run over. I wanted to kiss her full, red lips. And run my fingers through her short coal hair.
“Hey Princey! Aren’t you gonna kiss Snow White?”
But I was frozen to the ground, my riding boots never moving an inch. True loves kiss? Was there even such a thing?
My thoughts and eyes were wandering but both led me back to the same place. Beautiful Snow White encased in the glass coffin and the dwarves surrounded around her with tears in their eyes.

Why grieve when you can keep your loved one encased in Forever Glass?

Isiah?

10.
He had the gun to his head.
9.
He pulled the trigger getting ready to shoot. “STOP!”
8.
His grip around the holster was loosened.  “Isiah, please listen to me. You don’t have to do this. You know there are other ways.”
7.
“But this is the easiest.”
6.
He knew she was right; so he lowered the gun. It rested near his thigh.  “I can’t stop this anymore.”
5.
The gun was back at his head.
4.
His thumb moved.
3.
Silence.
2.
-BANG-
1.

“Isiah?”
